University Heights Intermediate School houses 3rd-5th grade students for Nettleton School District located in northeast Jonesboro.  The 80,000 sf school has three classroom wings, one for each grade, and houses a library, kitchen, cafeteria, administrative offices, a parent center, and a gymnasium.

 

The building is clad in brick, stucco, and two different metal panels.  The main corridor is a tall space with clerestory windows to allow ample southern light to filter into the spaces.  The library has a double height ceiling also with tall glazing to allow natural light to filter in through the deep punched windows which diffuse the daylight.  The cafeteria has a similar tall ceiling which steps down beneath the structure allowing for a unique dining experience for the students.
